Mount Meru
Located in the heart of Arusha National Park, Mount Meru is the second largest mountain in Tanzania and the fourth highest in Africa. With an elevation of 4,566 meters, it is often used as a warm-up for Kilimanjaro, but we believe Mount Meru is a very worthwhile destination.
It offers rustic hut accommodations, as well as impressive views and diverse vegetation. It ranges from dense mountain rainforest, healthy moorlands to alpine desert. You will have the opportunity to see wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes and white stubby monkeys. In addition to your trekking team with guide, cook and porters, you will be accompanied by an armed park ranger.
Mount Meru in Tanzania can be climbed in 3 or 4 days, and it is important to consider fitness level and mountaineering experience at high altitudes when deciding on your itinerary. Unless you have little or no experience in high altitude trekking and mountaineering, we recommend a 4 day trek as this will give your body more time to acclimatize, increasing your chances of reaching the summit. We are proud to be able to demonstrate a current 100% summit rate on Mount Meru, and we look forward to challenging you and taking you on one of the best hikes of your life.
